Shore Crew
Welcome to the Crew!
Around the Americas is a year-long, 28,000 mile expedition by sailboat around North and South America. It takes a lot of people working on the boat, on shore, and in every community we visit to make this expedition happen. We hope your family, classroom, or informal education center will join the expedition as part of our “Shore Crew,” and follow the expedition through these weekly web posts from the Around the Americas education team!
Every Tuesday we will bring you an update from the boat, answers to questions asked by classrooms, an activity for your class to do, and ways for your classroom to connect to some of the other classes following the expedition.
Gather your crew and join the expedition!
Tips:
- Notebook: Scientists keep a science notebook, and captains keep a ship’s log; we encourage you to keep your own Around the Americas notebook (or designate a section of your current science notebook) as you follow the expedition. In each week’s entry we ask questions, and invite you to write your ideas, and record your findings and questions. A science notebook is great for this process. If you haven’t started your own notebook yet, you can learn how to start one in the first week’s post.
Teachers: For more information on science notebooks please see www.sciencenotebooks.org.
