Public Events during the New York Port Call – October 3-8
Event: Dockside open house including opportunities to meet the crew, view Ocean Watch, and see marine science demonstrations conducted by the onboard educator from the Pacific Science Center. All ages welcome, no cost to attend with regular admission to the Museum.

New York Background
New York City has the largest population of any city in the United States. The Port of New York/New Jersey is the largest port complex on the East Coast of North America. It is also the largest oil importing port and second largest container port in the nation. In 2008, more than 33 million metric tons of ocean-born general cargo moved through New York’s Port. New York harbor supports a great variety of species including bluefish, Atlantic Sturgeon, white perch, herring and mackerel.
